Monthly Goals: September 2018

I started September 1st off with a morning walk, it was only 2.5 miles but it felt great to let the fresh air fill my lungs and hear the birds chirping. I stopped into Target on my way home and picked up some Pink Lemonade drink packets and Olly Multivitamin Women’s gummies.

I’ve been in a slump this year. I haven’t been eating right, I haven’t been exercising, not doing yoga, no meditation. I’ve been feeling the effects of everything I’m not doing though. 

Finding out my dad was sick ((put dad post here) then him passing away only 18 short days later, this year has been filled with lots of tears, sorrows, and grief. I’ve tried to deal with it the best I can but I won’t lie, some days are just hard. 

I need to keep busy so I’ve decided to leave the part time job at the doctors office and took a full time job, my official first day is September 10th, wish me luck?! I do better when I’m on a routine. I loved freelance writing and would love to do it full time but it’s not healthy in the state I’ve been in this year to spend that much time at home.

Walk 30 miles // technicality that is only a mile a day, which seems totally doable. I’ll be moving around more at this new job than I did at the doctors office. 

Eat more fruits & veggies // I’ve rediscovered how delicious fruits are! I’ve tried new veggies and I need more of them in my life. Less processed foods and questionable beef. 

Read one book // I use to read two or three books a month, however now I’m down to zero. I’ll be adding this to my bedtime routine. It’ll be good to get out of my mind for an hour or two every night. 

Do more makeup // I’ve never worn anything other than mascara and eyeliner. I picked up BareMinerals powder foundation a year ago but have just started using it. I think I might’ve fallen in love with makeup, I won’t become a beauty blogger but I’ll be watching a few tutorials. I had no idea it would make me so confident in myself. Lose 5 pounds // I gained a lot of weight late last year and into this year, I won’t lie. I want to start a healthy lifestyle off this month by losing 5 pounds. If I eat right and move enough I know I can make it happen. Any tips and tricks you have would be greatly appreciated!

Hit 500 Twitter followers // I forgot how much fun it was to connect with others on Twitter. I started the month with 400 but let’s see if I can make it to 500. If you like what you see, please hit that follow button. 

Put together YouTube channel // I have an idea for a Youtube channel. I’m extremely shy when it comes to videos and photos so this may take a little time. I’ve never had a Youtube channel before so again, any advice?

  1. That’s great you were able to find a full time job – sometimes it is a negative to have too much time to yourself. I know keeping myself busy is sometimes physically healthier for me too because I’m not just sitting around and eating because I’m bored. I’ve been a bit hit or miss on my health this year. I lost a lot of weight last year, but I’ve gained some back, so I really want to lose at least ten pounds by the end of the year – more would be great, but we’ll see! I’m doing two dance classes a week and when the weather cools off, I hope to get outside and walking more. So now I need to figure out recipes and foods to eat that are healthy but keep me full. It’s a work in progress. You seem to be on the right track though!!!

  2. These are definitely some achievable goals! I think it’s important to try and improve our lives as we go through the year – at the moment I’m trying to update old posts on my blog, get better at scheduling and get back to my goal weight (14lbs to go).

  3. I am sending positive vibes in life and for your September goals. I am so sorry for your loss! I am sure you will be able to crush each and every goal that you have this month. One of the things I have been doing is listening to audiobooks while taking walks. I love it!

  6. Dear Leslie, you’ve been through a lot this year. Losing a parent is one of the worst things that we have to face in life, especially if it happens so suddenly. I lost my father that way too and know how much it hurts. The only thing I can tell you for sure is that with time, it hurts less but never goes away completely. Your post reflects that you are strong and willing to have your life back on track, and that is a great thing. I love your September goals and wish you all the best. Just be positive and believe in yourself.


  7. Wow Great Goals! I want to congratulate you on your new position. It is really hard where I’m at to find a decent job! Competition is fierce! Personally for me it has been a hard struggle! Most importantly condolences to you on your loss of your dad, I personally know the struggle (brother), its hard, being with others helps and getting out at new job will be good.
